Darshinee Seeraz (b.1994) is based in Singapore. She pursued a BA in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts (Goldsmiths University of London), Singapore (2014-2017). She recently graduated with a Master's in Arts and Cultural Leadership at the same institution (2019-2020).

Her objective is to explore the meditative process through painting and collecting. Memories are rarely submerged. Memories can become obsessions. It was in Singapore that Darshinee started being more conscious of her surroundings. This had led her to speak a lot and question herself about her memories and her displacement. The process of preserving and collecting objects of memory is, therefore, both a homage to her memory. It is a process of memorialization to preserve, relive and reimagine some of these memories.

Her research examines how layers of information can be compiled onto each other to draw the relationship between the past and the present, self, and space, memory and experience, architecture and nature.

I am currently doing a research project as part of my Masters in Arts and Cultural Leadership programme. This research aims to evaluate the place of the visual artist in Mauritius, in order to provide further insight into their work, and hopefully support local artists in the process.
